$350 Million Funding Initiative for SMEs

The Australian Industry Productivity Centres (Productivity Centres) a program of the Department of Industry Tourism and Resources (DITR) is a recently launched $350 million national Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) initiative. The Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) is a partner in this initiative and can assist SMEs in the Manufacturing and Services industry sectors to assess their performance, and then receive financial support to make improvements to develop their global competitiveness.
The first stage of the program for eligible SMEs is to receive a free Business Review - with the assistance of a Business Adviser their can assess their performance against world's best practice and agree areas of improvement and growth. The second stage is a Tailored Advisory Service with a specialist Consultant to implement changes identified in the Business Review to enhance their performance. As the implementation of improvements can be costly, the Productivity Centres initiative will provide matching funding on a dollar for dollar basis of up to $20,000 for SMEs.
This national SME initiative includes:
- a FREE Business Review with a skilled and experienced Business Adviser
- support from the Tailored Advisory Service to implement changes identified through the Business Review
- financial assistance to implement change across a wide range of business areas, for example - strategic business plans; financial control; workforce management; sales & marketing; supply chain; process reengineering; quality improvement; export strategy and technology solutions.
- This program can provide real opportunities for eligible SMEs that are manufacturers or trade exposed service firms who have been in business for more than three financial years, have a turnover of between $2 and $100 million and have an ACN.
