Hume Business Breakfast – ‘The Business Side of the AFL’

Friday 30 November 2007, 7.00am to 9.00am

The Australian Football League’s (AFL) Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Demetriou, will address the November Hume Business Breakfast.

A footballer at the highest level with North Melbourne and Hawthorn, Andrew’s business career became full-time, following his retirement from the game in 1989. He was appointed Managing Director of the Ruthinium Group, an acrylic teeth importing business, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of acrylic teeth, exporting to over 70 countries.

Andrew went on to become Chief Executive Officer of the AFL Players’ Association, where he was instrumental in establishing programs to look after players during their careers and after their retirement.

Jobwise Workshop

The purpose of the Jobwise program is to raise awareness of local labour market issues. It aims to link mature aged workers with local businesses suffering from staff and skills shortages.

The Jobwise workshop will provide local businesses and service providers the opportunity to discover how mature aged workers can be an asset to their business. It will provide opportunities for mature aged workers to meet potential employers in the local area. This is a great program linking local business with skilled individuals looking for work.

The AIPC Program provides is a Commonwealth funded program that NORTH Link/NIETL has been funded to deliver in the northern region of Melbourne. It provides a free Business Review Service to help firms achieve Business Excellence and increased profitability.  Firms must have a turnover of over $2 million in order to be eligible.
