Food retailers are dominating the retail sector, accounting for almost half the nation's turnover last financial year. The Australian Bureau of Statistics 2008 Year Book shows food retailers turned over $84.495 billion in 2006-07. Representing 41 per cent of the total turnover from all Australian retail services during that period.
