2012 is well underway with everyone returning recovered from 2011. The PFG has a big year planned ahead with new initiatives, programs and events. Participating in Victorian Government Super Missions, Food and Hotel Asia, Fine Food Australia exhibitions and more. Planning is underway for a food industry specific session on the upcoming carbon tax and other exciting events. We look forward to working with you in 2012.

New High Level Course being delivered by William Angliss Institute
The Vocational Graduate Certificate in Food Industry Management is a nationally accredited postgraduate qualification designed for supervisors and managers interested in obtaining specialised management and leadership training in food and beverage or confectionery manufacturing. This program has been specifically developed in partnership with the Australian Industry Group and food industry stakeholders. It aims to deliver enhanced technical, analytical and leadership skills within a manufacturing setting for the food, beverage and confectionery industry.

The Victorian Government is committed to supporting Victorian exporters in South Korea and participating in the World Expo 2012 in Yeosu. The Expo runs from May to August 2012 in Yeosu, on the south coast of Korea. Victoria will use the Expo as a platform to develop business-business and government-government links in South Korea, with the aim of increasing exports of goods or services to South Korea and encouraging inward investment to Victoria. Whilst the Expo is a headline activity, we will seek to engage in a strategic manner with key stakeholders in South Korea.

Australian Government Initiative
The $1.2 billion Clean Technology Program will provide support for manufacturers through three components. While a carbon price will provide incentives for these manufacturers to reduce energy consumption, the Government will also help manufacturing businesses invest in energy efficient equipment, processes and products to reduce their exposure to changing electricity prices.
